Since releasing his debut solo EP ‘The Sound Of Wings 2’ in February this year, Coptic Soldier has been deemed “one of the most promising acts in Australian hip-hop” (The AU Review) and has quickly turned heads both on the ground and in the upper echelons of the Australian music industry. After being branded a Music NSW featured artist, AMRAP AirIT featured artist and beating out highly acclaimed pop acts such as Sparkadia and Cloud Control as well as genre giants The Herd and Urthboy in the AMRAP AirIT charts, Coptic Soldier went on to win Triple J Unearthed & NIDA's video clip competition and the resulting film clip “Liquid Company” received regular rotation on ABC's RAGE.
Now, Coptic Soldier along with his fellow I Forget, Sorry! Artists Mind Over Matter, Phatchance, Smiles Again and Johnny Utah will release a free 5 track mixtape on Christmas eve. Through the mixtape, Copic Soldier takes on a wide range of sounds stretching from a cover of the famous hymn Amazing Grace to recent Lupe Fiasco hit “Words I Never Said” as well as attacking more traditional hip hop mixtape tracks with original lyrics over beats by P.O.S and Timberland.
The mixtape features Kootla (Hilltop Hoods initiative winner) + fellow I Forget, Sorry! member Willow if Mind Over Matter and is rounded off with a unique take on Boy & Bears “Lordy May”.
